Longevity and Financial Planning - an overview

The Life Trust Foundation and the Oxford Institute of Ageing conduct an audit of existing research on longevity and financial planning.

The Life Trust Foundation has embarked on its first joint project with the renowned Oxford Institute of Ageing.

The Oxford Institute of Ageing is a centre of excellence for the study of ageing in the UK and internationally. We are working with Professor Sarah Harper and team to undertake an audit and analysis of existing longevity research, focussing in particular on:

  • Incremental and radical longevity
  • The financial issues that arise from this changing demographic

The report will highlight, in particular, people's changing expectations about whose responsibility it is to fund their later retirement, what aspirations and fears they have about living a longer life and how their financial situation impacts key life drivers - such as relationships, health and vulnerability.

Having identified and reviewed the existing research, the Life Trust Foundation will seek to drive action and pursue areas where consumer insight is weaker.

The report will be available in August 2008.
